If you’re considering going to university some day or want to find out if it’s the right option for you, October is the perfect time to explore your options and investigate in person.

Open Events give you the chance to experience university life first-hand; you can check out their facilities, ask questions about the course and activities on offer, explore the campus and local area, and meet current students and staff. Many universities are hosting Open Events this month – you can use UCAS’ search function to find out when and where these are being held: University Open Days | Visit Universities and Colleges | UCAS

If you are local to Bristol, Bath or Somerset, there is a range of nearby universities who are hosting Open Events throughout the year, listed below.

  • University of the West of England (UWE) – Open Day Saturday 12th October
  • BIMM Music Institute – Open Day Saturday 12th October
  • University of Bristol – Open Day Saturday 26th October
  • University of Gloucestershire – Open day Saturday 19th October, Saturday 9th November
  • Bath Spa University – Open Day Saturday 19th October, Wednesday 6th November, Saturday 30th November, 11th January 2025

For all Open Events, whether they’re round the corner or across the country, it is important to do your research beforehand and check whether you need to book a place to attend. To get the most out of your visit, UCAS have a handy list of questions you may want to ask about the course, accommodation and area: Preparing for a university open day | Undergraduate, Conservatoires | UCAS

Even if you have mostly decided against university, attending an Open Event can confirm whether this is the right decision for you and help you make an informed choice.
