Broadening Cultural Awareness

This programme is aimed to both broaden and deepen the cultural knowledge and understanding of the students by exposing them to a variety of different cultures. The programme contains activities that provide plenty of opportunities to interact with a range of cultures and languages, as well as the chance to explore potential future careers and opportunities.

“I tried chopsticks for the first time; I went to Wagamama for the first time; I tried Katsu Curry for the first time… and soy sauce!” Student, 2023

“ I thought all of the activities were beneficial as they were all so different and explored a different aspect of language learning and cultural awareness. What an amazing programme and such a great opportunity for the kids.” Staff member at Bridge Learning Campus, 2023

“This experience is amazing for them! They’re seeing the world in a different way and three of them have asked if they can learn more Chinese now.” School staff, 2023

“They’re already more confident in tackling a new language just from approaching vocabulary in a totally different way.” Languages teacher, 2023

The trips provide a mixture of opportunities for young people to practise and develop their language skills. At the same time, they are introduced to the importance of understanding culture in terms of the arts, food and behaviour in relation to those languages.
