Supporting our students

The Insight into Apprenticeships project works with once central Bristol and seven south Bristol schools, with cohorts of 15 students from years 9 or 10; we are now working with our seventh cohort of students in Bristol.

We are extremely lucky to work with some great business partners who support our students. The students enjoy a range of visits to businesses, meeting current apprentices and finding how to gain quality work experience. The students also hear from our partners about the competencies and skills that employers are looking for, as well as the career pathways into the various sectors. Our partners include Boston Tea Party, Bristol PortKPMG and Platform Rail.

“It’s given me opportunities to do things I never thought I would do, for example teambuilding in the Mendips, but also applying for an apprenticeship and talking to people in workplaces. I have more confidence now.”

Activities included:

  • Student meeting
  • Parent meeting
  • Mendip Activity Centre Teambuilding visit
  • KPMG visit – employability skills
  • City of Bristol College
  • Boston Tea Party
  • Bristol Port visit
  • Communicate with Confidence
  • Platform Rail
  • Personality Profiling day
  • Celebration Event
  • SGS College

“Before doing Insight into Apprenticeships I hadn’t thought about what I would do after school at all. I’m still not sure what I want to do, but I think an apprenticeship would be a good option as you get paid and get a qualification.

“I feel more confident and comfortable around people!”
